Area farmed
Area of farmed land, in hectares and vergées. For comparison, the area of Jersey is 11,630 hectares (64,612 vergées), and 11,958 hectares (66,436 vergées) when including the intertidal zone.
Note that from 2006 onwards, more land-owners were surveyed. This caused the increase land farmed in this year; if more land-owners had not been surveyed, the total land farmed for 2006 would have been 5,218 hectares / 28,987 vergées. See the Agriculture Statistics 2006 report pages 4-6 for details on this change.
Note also that from 2014, the area farmed excludes areas that are not considered to be agricultural i.e. large gardens, woodlands and scrublands.
